The first element is reading comprehension. Texts are chosen for their high level of language and sophistication of ideas representing the type of material graduate students should be able to read.  Students receive a text of approximately 2000 words, and must answer questions on it. Two hours are allotted for this part of the exam.

The second part of the test involves writing a short passage in response to a prompt. The writing topic is related to the text in the first part so that students will have some background for their writing. The paragraph is graded for composition and language.  This part of the exam is 30 minutes.

Based on the reading and writing scores, students are either granted an exemption or placed in one of the following levels:

M1   - for students who need intensive work in reading and writing in English. These students study English 4  hours a week for a year.

M      - for students for whom reading and writing in English is extremely challenging. These students study English 4 hours a week for a year.

M4   - for students who still need to practice advanced reading comprehension skills and basic elements of academic composition. These students study four hours a week for one semester. 

M2   - for students who have demonstrated good reading comprehension skills, but still need to practice academic composition skills. These students study two hours a week for one semester.

At each level, there is also an emphasis on oral skills. 

Each course fulfills the English requirement for the graduate level. There are no final exams for these courses. Regular attendance and completion of all homework, class assignments, quizzes and oral presentations are necessary in order to pass the course.

מבחן זה מורכב מ-2 חלקים:

חלק 1: מכיל  קטע קריאה באורך של כ- 2000 מילים. עליך לקרוא אותו ולענות על השאלות הקשורות אליו.

הקטע נועד לבחון את רמתך בשפה האנגלית. הקטע משקף את סוג החומר האקדמי והמורכבות הרעיונית והלשונית הנדרש מסטודנטים לתואר שני.  הזמן הקצוב לחלק זה הינו: שעתיים

בחלק 2: יוצג לפניך נושא כתיבה הקשור לקטע הקריאה שהופיע בחלק הראשון של המבחן. עליך לכתוב עליו חיבור קצר, כפיסקה אחת. הניקוד בחלק זה ניתן על מרכיבים של כתיבת חיבור ושליטה בשפה האנגלית. הזמן הקצוב לחלק זה הינו: 30 דקות.
